What’s the prettiest spot on Baylor’s campus?
The Baylor Instagram account recently posed a very important question: “Are you team Old Main or Pat Neff for prettiest spot on campus?”
Hordes of Bears, old and new, took to the comments to share their thoughts. While Old Main and Pat Neff certainly dominated the conversation, plenty of Baylor students and alumni chimed in with their votes for other campus spots that they deemed contenders for the title. Thus, a series began, featuring the spots that were named the most.
We had a fun time reviewing these special campus spots, so we wanted to share them and some of the commentary they evoked with you!
Old Main:
Team Old Main-ers took to the comments to explain their choice:
Amy Maier, BBA ’18: “Old Main hands down! Never fails to make me slow down and appreciate how beautiful (inside & out) Baylor is and how lucky we are to be a part of it!”
Dan Stephens, BSED ’83: “Old Main is spectacular. I don’t know how you beat that.”
Pat Neff Hall:
Team Pat Neff-ers did the same. Class of 2022 members, in particular, seem to be are big fans of the building — and have a trend of elongating Pat Neff into silly full names…
Preston Prince, BMED ’05: “Having actually played the carillon and ventured into the bell tower, I would have to say Pat Neff.”
Alaina Spell, freshman: “Patrick Neffrey for sure.”
Andrew Meador, freshman: “Patthew Neffrey”
Zach Ardiles, freshman: “Paternicon Neffertiti”
You do you, #BU22.
Armstrong Browning Library:
There’s no doubt in Baylor fans’ minds that ABL is a special kind of beautiful — something that’s been seconded by sources outside of Baylor countless times over the years.
Sharon Green, BBA ’95: “Still remember my awe first time I saw it in 1966.”
Russell Duckworth, BBA ’89: “Of all the poetry and all the beauty in this place it’s appropriate that the clasped bronze hands and the love that they symbolize will outlast it all.”
Tidwell Bible Building:
We’ve seen it called “The Tidwell Tower of Power” — and when captured just right, this tall building is quite beautiful, no doubt.
Stacey Smith, BSED ’00, MSED ’02: “Special place in my heart. My husband and I were married in the chapel. Best building ever!!”
Moody Memorial Library:

Moody Garden Level putting up a strong fight for prettiest spot on campus. ✨
The Garden Level of Moody feels like one of those secret spots on campus that’s too beautiful to be real. We’re big fans.
Lori Horvath, Baylor parent: “The place two of our sons met the girls they would later marry! One even proposed at that spot. #LoveMoodyLibrary.”
Carroll Science Hall:
Bears were very vocal about their soft spot for this building. Inside and out, it seems to evoke something special for students.
Chelsey Masterson, BA ’09: “The Carroll Science staircase brought me to Baylor. #nojoke.”
Ben Meek, BA ’81: “Top floor Carroll Science! Texas Collection books, including poets laureate, quiet nooks, comfy chairs. It was my sanctuary. And I was usually alone there — the hordes didn’t know or didn’t care about it. Their (huge) loss.”

Shout out to our Bears who have a soft spot for the SUB. #honorablemention 💚
Like Armstrong Browning, the SUB might seem sort of ordinary from the outside, but inside it hosts some special spaces, including Barfield Drawing Room and more…
Nathan Holles, BA ’14: “Always. Love of my life. The secret bathroom, the worn stairs, the couches in Barfield. 🥰”
