Partnerships with XULA and South Texas College will expand BU students’ opportunities
Baylor is now in Louisiana and South Texas! Last month, the university officially signed agreements launching two new programs — an exchange program with Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA), and a Baylor Bound transfer agreement with South Texas College — that will create new opportunities for students.
Baylor and XULA’s new domestic exchange program was created with educational and cultural opportunities in mind. Founded in 1915, XULA is a historically black university in New Orleans — the only Catholic HBCU in the United States. Baylor students who participate in the program will get to spend a semester living and studying in New Orleans, gaining new perspectives, and ultimately increasing their cultural competency and awareness. Participating Xavier students will benefit from from a semester’s worth of the Baylor experience here in the heart of Texas.
Back in our home state, students at South Texas College in McAllen will have an easier time becoming a Baylor Bear. The South Texas Baylor Bound program — the 10th of its kind — will help students transfer more easily between the two institutions. Advisors from both Baylor and South Texas help students select courses that satisfy the program requirements and give them information about transfer student scholarships. In the end, all this lets students save a ton of money on their Baylor degree and opens up the Baylor family to a whole new group of people!
Sic ’em, Bears!
