  • Why return for #BaylorHomecoming?

    Baylor Homecomings of recent past

Two weeks from today, #BaylorHomecoming 2015 will be in full swing. Some of you reading this no doubt finalized your plans to return months ago, but perhaps a few of you are still on the fence, wondering, “Is it really worth the hassle to make the trip?”

I can promise you that it will be worth it. But you don’t have to take my word for it; just looking back through the history of this blog reveals some of the things you would have missed had you skipped out on Homecoming:

    • 2007 — The long-awaited Immortal 10 memorial was dedicated during Homecoming.
    • 2008 — Regents announced a lead gift for the Allison Indoor Practice Facility, the first major project to benefit Art Briles’ football program (more on that in a minute).
    • 2009 — Baylor celebrated the 100th anniversary of its first Homecoming (which was also the nation’s first).
    • 2010 — Despite a deluge that led to a two-hour delay during the game, Briles’ Bears won to become bowl-eligible for the first time in 15 years.
    • 2011 — We saw the first renderings of a new football stadium on the banks of the Brazos.
    • 2012 — The Golden Wave Marching Band put on the best halftime show in recent memory.
    • 2013 — Regents officially approved the Foster Campus for Business and Innovation.
    • 2014 — Fans celebrated the first Homecoming game at McLane Stadium (a victory, of course — the Bears’ fifth straight on Homecoming).

And that doesn’t even include the traditions: Pigskin, Bonfire, Singspiration, reunion events, the parade and the game.

Don’t miss out on all that this year will offer (including the dedication of the new Rosenbalm Fountain on Fifth Street); make your plans to attend Baylor Homecoming now. Visit baylor.edu/homecoming for details on events, ticket and merchandise links, and a complete schedule.

    Sic ’em, Bears!
