Dr. Christopher B. Howard (left) has served as president of Hampden-Sydney College, a private liberal arts school in Virginia, since 2009. A native Texan, Howard was class president and the starting running back for the Air Force Academy before heading to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He earned a master’s and doctorate there, then added an MBA from Harvard Business School. Among many honors, Howard was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as a member of the National Security Education Program Board.

LLC, an oil and gas exploration and production company, and Western Property Group, a commercial property development and leasing firm, both located in Midland. Hord has remained connected to Baylor over the years by serving on the Hankamer School of Business Advisory Board and through involvement with the Baylor Angel Network, an investor group that provides early stage capital to entrepreneurs. His wife, Jenni, BBA ’92, is also a Baylor graduate.

Including Howard and Hord, 22 of the university’s 26 voting Regents (not including the student and faculty reps) are Baylor graduates, with eight holding more than one BU degree.
