• Alum at forefront of campaign social media outreach

Facebook voteAs we’ve moved into the Internet age, the old picture of politicians out shaking hands and kissing babies seems cliche and almost outdated; today, it’s all about engaging with voters via social media.

As founder and CEO of Harris Media, Baylor graduate Vincent Harris, BA ’09, is among those at the forefront of that movement. The company specializes in social media outreach and management as well as website development and online advertising, with a clientele that includes Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, U.S. Senator John Cornyn and Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell as well as gubernatorial candidates in Arkansas, Florida, Nevada, Vermont and Wyoming.

Harris actually began the company as a junior at Baylor, expanding it since graduation to a full-time staff of 10 based out of Austin. He’s made it a habit to hire Baylor graduates, as well; the company directory includes vice president Luke Baker, BA ’07, and account executive Chase Weber, a senior who will graduate in December but is already working full-time for Harris.

As you cast your vote today on Election Day, think back about how you came to decide how to vote; if social media played a part, a Baylor Bear may have had a hand in that.

    Sic ’em, Harris Media!
