  • Baylor Bass Club competing for national title this weekend

April 8, 2010 // Posted In Alumni, Athletics, Honors, Student life

Baylor Bass ClubBaylor sports fans probably know all about the basketball teams’ successes, and that the women’s tennis team is again ranked No. 1 in the country, and that the equestrian team won their first Big 12 championship last month. But did you know that the Baylor Bass Club is participating in the national championships this weekend?

Organized as a student organization (not a varsity sport) in the fall of 2005, the Baylor Bass Club has represented Baylor on three different collegiate bass fishing tours. Baylor is one of 25 schools competing in the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship April 10-12 at Fort Loudoun Lake in Knoxville, Tenn. Recent graduates Jay Holland, BBA ’09, and Andrew McAdams, BS ’09 (pictured at right) qualified for the regional championships before graduating last year; by placing fifth at last fall’s regional, they won $6,000 and earned a spot in the national championship this spring. The winning team this weekend will receive $100,000 and be entered into a professional tournament where they’ll have a shot at a $600,000 prize.

    Sic ’em, Baylor Bass Club!
