• Baylor student named top Emerging Texas Artist

dobbins-art-july09More than 15,000 visitors attended the 38th Annual Texas Arts & Crafts Fair in Kerrville, Texas, over Memorial Day Weekend, but only one came away with the fair competition’s highest honor. That one, of course, was a Baylor Bear.

Erin Dobbins, who graduated in May with a bachelor of fine arts degree, won the fair’s top award of Emerging Texas Artist (that’s her work at right). And she wasn’t the only award winner from Baylor; four other Bears also brought home scholarship money. Camille Hawbaker was the runner-up for Emerging Texas Artist, while Hunter Chambers (mixed media), Jessica Hollis (photography) and Casey Wright (sculpture) each claimed top honors in their category. Sic ’em, Baylor artists!
