Men’s Choir records Baylor ringtone to raise money for mission trip
Next spring, the Baylor University Men’s Choir is headed to Argentina for a mission trip, where they will sing before all new audiences (in addition to performing service work) while experiencing a new culture themselves. What really caught my eye about the trip, though, was the unique way they are raising funds for the trip.
No garage sales. No wrapping paper sales. No cake walks. No car washes. Instead, the choir has taken their primary gift — musical talent — and recorded a version of “That Good Old Baylor Line” that supporters can purchase for use as a cellphone ringtone!
If that’s not your style, perhaps you’d prefer a collegiate band recording of the alma mater or one of Baylor’s fight songs. Baylor spirit songs are available for purchase as ringtones directly from most mobile phone services; a quick Internet search found entries available for customers of Alltel, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, not to mention plenty of third-party websites — even BaylorBears.com.
Either way, supporters of the Men’s Choir can also help the program out by purchasing a CD from one of the group’s performances, or simply by attending a concert this year.
Sic ’em, Men’s Choir!
