Alive Campaign students hit the road
As you drive this summer, keep an eye out for college students on bicycles. The Baylor students who launched the Alive Campaign for suicide awareness last fall are now on the road!
Six students are biking from Waco to Anchorage in a trip that they expect will take all summer. The group left from the McLane Student Life Center Thursday. Along the way, they will film a documentary; they hope their trip will continue to attract attention from local and national media that will help generate discussion about suicide prevention. MTV hosted the group a couple of months ago, and Waco’s KWTX and KCEN were both on the scene when the group left Waco (click on those links for video reports).
At many of their overnight stops, the students will be staying with Baylor alumni who have volunteered to help out. The students are already journaling about their trip at alivecampaign.blogspot.com; for more on the campaign, visit alivecampaign.org.
Sic ’em, students!
