Baylor and the Federal Reserve
I’ve never quite understood what it is that the Federal Reserve does — perhaps because the only economics class I ever took was a blow-off course in high school. Then last night, I was flipping channels and came across former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan on The Daily Show, and he gave a pretty good explanation of how it all works.
Why do I mention this? Well, as it turns out, there’s a Baylor connection at the Federal Reserve — Michelle A. Smith, who serves as the Assistant to the Board and Director of the Office of Board Members. Smith, who graduated with her BA in journalism in 1990 and masters degrees in science and international journalism a year later, oversees the congressional, media and public information activities of the Board.
Good to know that, even if I don’t get it, there are Baylor people out there working (through the media) to help us understand what’s going on!
Sic ’em, Michelle!
