Lady Bears sweep Big 12 titles for 5th straight year
For the fifth consecutive season, head coach Kim Mulkey’s Baylor Lady Bears are both Big 12 regular season and conference tournament champs.

How unusual is that feat? In the nearly 20-year history of the Big 12 Conference, across every sport, only three times has a team swept both titles for five or more years running — and two of those three teams have worn the green and gold: Texas women’s tennis (1997-2002), Baylor women’s tennis (2006-2011), and Baylor women’s basketball (2011-present).
If you’ve ever wondered what a dynasty looks like, here it is:
- 5 straight Big 12 regular season titles
- 5 straight Big 12 tournament titles
- 5 straight Big 12 Players of the Year
- Big 12 Coach of the Year 4 out of the last 5 years
- 5 straight years with multiple All-Big 12 first-team selections
- 5 straight 30-win seasons
Next up? A possible 5th straight year as a top-2 seed in the NCAA tournament and a potential 7th consecutive Sweet 16 appearance. This year’s bracket will be announced Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Sic ’em, Lady Bears!
