\"CasaChristmas is a time for giving, as we remember the perfect gift God gave us. It seems an appropriate time to share this story that a friend passed along; I think it is an excellent illustration of how Baylor graduates continue to serve long after they’ve left Steppin’ Out and spring break mission trips behind.<\/p>\n

Scott Salmans, a 1987 business graduate, and his wife, Susannah, lost their second child, Scott Anthony, at less than three weeks of age due to a chromosomal defect. In Anthony’s honor, the couple decided to support an orphanage abroad and eventually felt God’s leading to work with the New Life Children’s Home<\/a> (NLCH) in Villa Nueva, Guatemala. Trusting God to make good use of their resources, the Salmans’ support allowed for the construction of “Casa Anthony,” a new home for boys at the NLCH. Casa Anthony was dedicated this fall and provides a huge boost for NLCH, which provides a home for 50 children in need.<\/p>\n

My wife and I are expecting our first child, and I can’t imagine what the pain of losing that little one would be like. It’s inspiring to hear of a fellow Bear who claimed God’s promise from Romans 8, that God will work all things for good for those who love Him, and turned his family’s own tragedy into so much good for so many others.<\/p>\n
