\"ScottThe respect of one’s peers is among the most welcome honors for people in any profession, but it’s particularly so in academics. Thus the news that three Baylor professors have each been recently recognized by their peers (in three different ways, no less) is good news, indeed!<\/p>\n

School of Music professor Dr. Scott McAllister<\/a> (pictured here in the lab with a student) received the national 2008-2009 ASCAPLUS Award<\/a>\u2014Concert Music Division from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). The award is based on \u201cthe unique prestige value of each writer\u2019s catalog of original compositions, as well as recent performances.\u201d\u00a0 Recipients are selected by a distinguished panel of renowned musicians. Dr. Tom Potts<\/a>, a Baylor alumnus and current professor of finance, was named president-elect of the Financial Planning Association<\/a>, a national organization “connecting those who provide, support and benefit from professional financial planning.”<\/p>\n

Last but not least, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) honored Dr. Brett Wilkinson<\/a> with its 2008 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award<\/a> for his “excellence in teaching” and “active service to the accounting profession.”<\/p>\n
