Wednesday night, the Baylor women’s basketball team’s 75-48 win over Kansas State<\/a> drew 7,820 fans to the Ferrell Center. That’s an average crowd for the Lady Bears this season, but the number raised the program’s total attendance for the year to 140,794, setting a new Ferrell Center record (more than any other BU men’s or women’s team ever).<\/p>\n

Head coach Kim Mulkey’s women are also on pace to set a new Baylor record for average attendance. With one home game still to play (Wednesday vs. Missouri), the Lady Bears are averaging 7,822 fans per game — slightly higher than the 7,717 they averaged in 2004-05, when the squad went on to win the national championship. (Wouldn’t mind seeing that repeat itself!)<\/p>\n

On top of the season mark, the men and women each set single-game highs for attendance this season; 10,596 saw the men vs. Kansas, and 10,569 came for the women vs. Tennessee. Baylor keeps on asking fans to rise up<\/a>, and you keep responding to the challenge!<\/p>\n
