From one historic event to another… Tuesday, LaceDarius Dunn became Baylor’s all-time leading scorer<\/a>, breaking a record that had stood since 1982. In the next couple of weeks, he will likely break the Big 12’s career scoring mark as well. Then on March 5, just over two weeks from now, Baylor’s Ferrell Center will be at the epicenter of the college men’s basketball universe as the Bears host ESPN’s College Gameday<\/a>.<\/p>\n The worldwide sports leader is coming to Waco, broadcasting live from the Ferrell Center between 9 and 11 a.m.<\/a> before the national telecast that night of Baylor vs. Texas (8 p.m. CT, ESPN). A big game in recent years, the Gameday matchup will hold special intrigue this year on the national stage. UT is currently ranked No. 2 in the country, but has lost four of its last five to the Bears. The Longhorns fended off Baylor in Austin Saturday — but no Big 12 team has come closer to knocking off UT this year than BU was in that game, trailing by just four in the final two minutes.<\/p>\n With five games to go in the conference race, the Bears are currently fourth in the Big 12<\/a>, half a game out of third place — which, you might remember, is exactly where they finished last season before making a run to the Elite Eight.<\/p>\n Attendance has been great this season — the men set a Ferrell Center record with 10,562 fans vs. Kansas last month, while the women have topped 10,000 four times already this year. We’ll need that kind of turnout again all day March 5 — to provide a good Baylor showing on national TV during the ESPN Gameday broadcast, then to cheer on the Bears that night vs Texas.
