\"HomecomingBaylor football rose to the challenge, making Homecoming a Baylor Bowlcoming with a 47-42 win over Kansas State Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium. With the victory, the Bears improve to 6-2 on the year, reaching bowl eligibility for the first time since 1995<\/a>!<\/p>\n

In what’s becoming the norm for the Bears under head coach Art Briles, Baylor put on another offensive show, making it a record-setting day<\/a> in more ways than one. The Bears set a school record for total yards (683) and topped 30 points for the fifth straight game. Senior Jay Finley ran for a school-record 250 yards and sophomore Robert Griffin III set new career passing highs with 404 yards and four touchdowns. It’s been 16 years since the Bears’ last bowl game (1994 Alamo Bowl<\/a>) and almost 20 years since the last time Baylor was 6-2 through eight games (1991). An active crowd of 40,057 waited through a nearly two-hour lightning delay early in the first quarter, sticking around in great numbers and rushing the field as the clock hit 0:00 and the Bears reached bowl eligibility.<\/p>\n

Of course, bowl eligibility isn’t the end — it’s just the beginning! Baylor has four games remaining, including two in Waco, to continue building on this strong first two-thirds of the season.
