Potter fanatics might do well to pick up <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/One-Fine-Potion-Literary-Potter\/dp\/1602581983\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1290090985&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">One Fine Potion: The Literary Magic of Harry Potter<\/a><\/em>, the latest book from Baylor professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/english\/index.php?id=47647\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Garrett<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A longtime Baylor English professor, Garrett&#8217;s books often look for deeper meaning in pop culture, from music to movies to literature. <em>One Fine Potion<\/em> follows that approach, examining what J.K. Rowling&#8217;s books say about the importance of community and heroism and exploring the Christian allegory found throughout the series. Garrett compares Rowling&#8217;s works to those by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, both well-known Christian authors of epic fantasies, even going so far as to say &#8220;there is no more powerful contemporary retelling of the gospel narrative than Rowling&#8217;s 4100 pages.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Garrett&#8217;s book prompted <em>The New Yorker<\/em> to run a piece on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/online\/blogs\/books\/2010\/11\/harry-potter-and-religion.html\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Potter and Religion<\/a>,&#8221; and he dives further into his writings in <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/flunkingsainthood\/2010\/10\/harry-potter-christian-hallows-and-cs-lewis-a-qa-with-greg-garrett.html\" target=\"_blank\">this Q&amp;A with BeliefNet<\/a>.
