Homecoming<\/a> is more than just a weekend — it\u2019s the joy of showing loved ones that Baylor spirit, revisiting old stomping grounds, and reconnecting with the people and places that shaped their stories. Every October, that first glimpse of the bonfire signals that we\u2019re home again.<\/p>\nFor Scott Floyd (BA ’11, MDiv ’15) and his wife, Olivia (BS ’15), Homecoming has always carried extra meaning. The couple met in 2012 when Scott was in his second year at Truett Seminary and his future wife was a Baylor sophomore. Their friendship quickly blossomed into something more, and by the time Homecoming rolled around in October, they were officially dating.<\/p>\n
Flash forward to 2025, the couple discovered a fun connection. While visiting campus for a football game, Baylor photographers snapped a photo of the Floyds in front of the marching band (above right). When Scott reached out to the photography team afterward, they realized Baylor had also captured them years earlier, in front of the Homecoming bonfire back in 2012 — just a month after they\u2019d started dating (above left). Two photos, taken years apart, bookending their Baylor journey.<\/p>\n
Since then, the Floyds\u2019 story has continued to reflect the Baylor spirit of learning, service and love. They both graduated on the same day, with Scott earning his master’s of divinity and his wife her bachelor\u2019s degree in forensic anthropology. Soon after, they taught English together for a year in Thailand through a Baylor language program. Married in 2018, they now live in College Station, but often return to Waco for Homecoming, BUGWB alumni days, and to visit family who still call Waco home.<\/p>\n
