The 1974 AFCA Coach of the Year remains the winningest coach in Baylor football history, and is a member of <em>eight<\/em> halls of fame (including the College Football Hall of Fame).<\/p>\n<p>Add one more honor to the list: Earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/baylorbears.com\/news\/2024\/10\/4\/football-grant-teaff-receives-paul-bear-bryant-lifetime-achievement-award.aspx\">Teaff was recognized with the Paul \u201cBear\u201d Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award<\/a>, given annually by the American Heart Association in honor of a college football coach&#8217;s &#8220;outstanding achievements and extraordinary contributions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The honor is fitting &#8212; both because of the long friendship and mutual respect between Teaff and Bear Bryant, and because Teaff was the heart of Baylor football for his two decades leading the program.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Baylor Football: 2025 Paul &quot;Bear&quot; Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award - Grant Teaff\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z8aV8c7qYzM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As I look back on my time coaching,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z8aV8c7qYzM\">Teaff says<\/a>, &#8220;I think of the wins, and sometimes the bitter losses. But mostly I think of the young men I had the privilege to coach &#8212; not only on the field, but off the field.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We ask our players to play with their heart, all the while knowing that their heart is the key to their physical success.
