An internship in Washington, D.C., offers incredible experience for students seeking careers in a wide variety of fields — but exponentially so during an election year.<\/p>\n

The Baylor in Washington program<\/a> has students in just such a position — earning college credits while interning with U.S. senators and representatives, government offices, think tanks, law firms, lobbyists, and other power players in our nation’s capital.<\/p>\n

Through a mix of real-world internships, coursework and networking, students can explore everything from government, journalism, advocacy and research to\u00a0event planning, the arts, consulting, and non-profit work. Students are required to take 12-15 course hours while in D.C., and can complete major requirements to graduate — including undergraduate thesis credit and completing three-fourths of a political science minor.<\/p>\n

The program allows students to be immersed in the dynamics of the nation\u2019s capital, under the care of Baylor’s Christian worldview, while gaining insights and experience essential for their future careers. Baylor in Washington also regularly hosts public events<\/a> that feature academic experts on the intersection of faith and public policy.<\/p>\n

“Baylor in Washington was a highlight of my student experience,” says Collin Slowey (BA ’21), now a speechwriter for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. “My semester in Washington connected me with an expansive professional network that has opened doors I never thought possible before participating.”<\/p>\n
