Upon graduating from Baylor, she embarked on a career that has included\u00a0stops at U.S. embassies in Turkey, the United Kingdom, Zambia, Cyprus, Ukraine, and Sweden, most recently as deputy chief of mission in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>As ambassador to Zimbabwe, she&#8217;s tasked with improving relations between the two countries after a rocky couple of decades. &#8220;That is what every ambassador wants to do in the country they come to,&#8221; Tremont said at an introductory press conference. &#8220;I am looking at new ways to do that with the Zimbabwean government, civil society, and business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tremont continues a legacy of Bears in foreign service that includes such Baylor alumni as <a href=\"https:\/\/news.web.baylor.edu\/news\/story\/2008\/baylors-2008-distinguished-alumni-award-recipients-named\">Steven Browning<\/a> (BA &#8217;71; ambassador to Malawi, 2003-04, and to Uganda, 2006-09), <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lyndon_Lowell_Olson_Jr.\">Lyndon Olson<\/a> (BA &#8217;76; ambassador to Sweden, 1998-2001) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/baylorproud\/2017\/06\/the-u-s-ambassador-to-iraq-is-a-baylor-bear\/\">Douglas Silliman<\/a> (BA &#8217;82; ambassador to Kuwait, 2014-16, and to Iraq, 2016-19).<\/p>\n<p>Sic \u2019em, Ambassador Tremont!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year, Pamela Tremont (BA &#8217;90, MA &#8217;92) was sworn in as the United States ambassador to Zimbabwe &#8212; the culmination of a road to foreign service that began at Baylor three decades ago.
