Everyone who lived through 9\/11 has a story about where they were that fateful morning. This week, Baylor has been sharing those stories from a variety of Bears (see below).<\/p>\n

President Linda Livingstone<\/a> recalls dropping off her daughter at kindergarten before heading to work in Hankamer\/Cashion. Tommy Marshall<\/a> (now Air Force Lt. Col. Marshall, BS ’02) was one of many Baylor students following the news on TVs around campus. Mark Childers<\/a> — today, the head of Baylor’s Department of Public Safety — was a Secret Service agent in Washington, D.C., on 9\/11. Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell<\/a> was just yards from the fuselage of the plane that struck the Pentagon. Jeff Bowles<\/a> (BBA ’83) was Baylor’s Air Force ROTC commander. Truett Seminary student Sejana Yoo<\/a> was an active duty soldier in the U.S. Army.<\/p>\n

For those of us of a certain age, those stories remind us of our own experience. But what about today’s students, who don’t have any memory of that day (if they were even born yet)? Dr. Stephen Sloan<\/a>, a Baylor history professor, explains how he’s adjusted his teaching about 9\/11 for a new generation of students.<\/p>\n
