On Sunday in Fort Worth, Baylor athletics brought home its fourth Big 12 championship in the last two months. Hot on the heels of Baylor basketball’s success, Baylor men’s tennis won its 14th regular season Big 12 title<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To put that in perspective, the league’s next two most successful tennis programs, Texas and TCU, have COMBINED to win just 13 regular season titles in Big 12 history.<\/p>\n

Interim head coach Michael Woodson has the Bears rolling, with a 27-4 mark on the season, a 4-1 record in Big 12 play, and ranked No. 2 in the nation. That includes wins over No. 6 TCU, No. 7 Texas (twice), No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 16 Illinois, No. 19 Oklahoma (twice), No. 21 Texas Tech, No. 22 Oklahoma State, and No. 23 Arizona.<\/p>\n

(The Baylor women nearly matched the men, finishing as Big 12 runners-up. Head coach Joey Scrivano’s team is ranked No. 10 nationally, with a 21-3 record and 8-1 finish in the Big 12.)<\/p>\n

Next up? Baylor will host the Big 12 men’s and women’s tennis championships<\/a> at Hurd Tennis Center this week, with the women playing April 22-25 and the men’s tournament running April 24-26. After that, each team will find out its NCAA tournament destination on May 3.<\/p>\n
