this year’s Baylor Alumni Award winners<\/a> are no different, with recipients leading the charge in finance, athletics, non-profit leadership and civic leadership.<\/p>\nCongratulations to this year’s honorees:<\/p>\n
Alumna of the Year:<\/em><\/strong> Kellie Fischer, BBA ’95<\/strong>, chief financial officer of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. In addition to overseeing all financial matters for the Rangers, Fischer has also been instrumental in bringing to life the team’s new stadium, Globe Life Field; its Urban Youth Academy in West Dallas; and its baseball academy in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\nYoung Alumnus of the Year:<\/strong><\/em> Max Muncy<\/strong>, a 2019 all-star for Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers. In addition to his excellence on the field, Muncy and his wife, Kellie (BSFCS ’13),\u00a0give back to the community through organizations such as Kershaw\u2019s Challenge, a faith-based foundation begun by teammate Clayton Kershaw that serves at-risk children in Los Angeles, Dallas, Zambia and the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\nPro Ecclesia Medal of Service:<\/strong><\/em> Brenda Hauk, BMED ’71<\/strong>, CEO and founder of BrightStone, a non-profit that provides services for adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As the organization’s executive director since its launch in 1999, Hauk has helped countless\u00a0adults with special needs live lives of fulfillment.<\/p>\nPro Texana Medal of Service:<\/strong><\/em> Kyle Deaver, BBA ’86, JD ’93<\/strong>, mayor of Waco since 2016. A third-generation Baylor graduate, Deaver has led Waco through a period of tremendous growth.
