Literally, as there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/baylorproud\/2019\/02\/how-many-of-these-bible-verses-have-you-seen-on-baylors-campus\/\">Scripture messages engraved on sidewalks and buildings<\/a> all over campus. Figuratively, as campus expansion over the last two decades has purposefully included many\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/spirituallife\/index.php?id=870506\">sacred spaces<\/a>&#8221; for both individual and corporate worship and prayer.<\/p>\n<p>From classic chapels featuring ornate stained glass to simple gardens designed for quiet reflection, here\u2019s a look into some of Baylor\u2019s sacred spaces:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Elliston Chapel &#8212; <\/strong>Part of East Village, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/spirituallife\/index.php?id=939916\">Elliston Chapel<\/a> has been open to the Baylor community since 2015. During the school day, it serves as a place to gather between classes, to play the piano, or to reflect and pray in a quiet space. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/bn\/news.php?action=story&amp;story=158619\">The stained-glass window<\/a>, depicting the \u201cdayspring on high\u201d described in Luke 1, was designed to give the space an inviting and joyful feel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-21889\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/elliston.jpg\" alt=\"The interior of Elliston Chapel\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/elliston.jpg 4032w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/elliston-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/elliston-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/elliston-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Robbins Chapel &#8212; <\/strong>Dedicated in 2007, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/brookscollege\/index.php?id=941363\">Robbins Chapel<\/a> in Brooks College sustains Baylor\u2019s tradition of valuing spiritual formation in students&#8217; development. William (BA &#8217;52, LBB &#8217;54, JD &#8217;69) and Mary Jo Robbins had a vision of creating a space for private prayer and small group worship at the heart of a living-learning community to encourage faithfulness to Christ in the daily life of students. The stained-glass windows present a narrative of Christian virtue and its ultimate goal: union with God in Christ through the gracious work of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-21890\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/robbins.jpg\" alt=\"The interior of Robbins Chapel\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/robbins.jpg 4032w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/robbins-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/robbins-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/robbins-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Bobo Spiritual Life Center chapel &#8212;\u00a0<\/strong>Located inside the Bobo Spiritual Life Center, this intimate chapel displays a beautiful cross over a window that overlooks the greenery of campus. Powell Chapel &#8212; <\/strong>Adorned with a beautiful pipe organ and stained-glass windows, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/content\/services\/photo_popup.php?photoid=146105&amp;gallery_id=6434\">Paul W. Powell Chapel<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/truett\/\">George W. Truett Theological Seminary<\/a> is an incredibly special space. In fact, it is so unique that nine faculty of the seminary pondered the stained-glass window panes in chapel sermons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Image-Word-Reflections-Stained-Powell\/dp\/1602582343\">then recorded them in a book available on Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-21892\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/powell-truett.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Powell Chapel at Truett Seminary\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/powell-truett.jpg 3024w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/powell-truett-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/powell-truett-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Foyer of Meditation &#8212; <\/strong>At the center of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/browninglibrary\/\">Armstrong Browning Library<\/a>, the McLean Foyer of Mediation features marble columns, black walnut paneling, a hand-painted ceiling, and three cathedral windows. Its focal point is the Cloister of the Clasped Hands, an area that has become known as the most romantic spot on the Baylor campus. Armstrong envisioned &#8220;an outstandingly lovely&#8221; outside area that would &#8220;include beautifully designed benches where people can sit and meditate and absorb the beauty of the garden.&#8221; Dedicated in 2012 and located just outside of the library, the Garden of Contentment is a beautifully landscaped, versatile outdoor gathering space and garden, designed for people to walk, to think and to be inspired.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-21894\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/abl-garden.jpg\" alt=\"Armstrong Browning Library's Garden of Contentment\" width=\"600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/abl-garden.jpg 2268w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/abl-garden-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/abl-garden-768x1365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/abl-garden-576x1024.jpg 576w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>McCall Chapel &#8212;\u00a0<\/strong>Even though it\u2019s located in Stacy Riddle Forum, Baylor\u2019s Panhellenic building, McCall Chapel is open to all students on the Baylor campus.
