The fall semester has been in session for almost a month now. Class schedules have been finalized, students have established their routines, and the numbers are officially in for this year\u2019s student body<\/a>.<\/p>\n Once again, this year\u2019s students have set new records. Baylor\u2019s student body — all 17,059 students — is more diverse than ever, with minority enrollment up to 35.3%. The university\u2019s freshman-to-sophomore retention rate has increased to a record 89.5%, and graduation rates also were at record levels (four-year rate: 62.9%; five-year rate: 77.4%; six-year rate: 76.6%).<\/p>\n But amidst all the numbers, the Class of 2021 really stole the show. A record 37,084 applications were received for this year\u2019s freshman class, allowing admissions to be more selective than ever (a record-low 38.9% were accepted). Nearly half (44%) of freshmen were in the top 10% of their high school class, and more than 31% are Baylor legacies. A record 36.7% are from out of state. And minority enrollment among this year’s freshman class is at 37.8%, higher than any previous class.<\/p>\n \u201cThis data provides another indication of Baylor\u2019s strength and resilience, starting with our freshman class exceeding our enrollment projections,\u201d says Baylor President Linda Livingstone. \u201cNot only are they exceptional students from all across the nation and world, this class is the most selective and most diverse class in Baylor\u2019s history.
