When Douglas Silliman<\/a>, BA \u201982, assumed the role of U.S. Ambassador to Iraq last September, he added another link into a 33-year chain of service with the U.S. Department of State that began shortly after he graduated from Baylor.<\/p>\n For more than three decades, Silliman has worked in places like Turkey, Jordan, Pakistan, Tunisia and more.\u00a0Before being named\u00a0ambassador to Iraq<\/a>, the Houston native\u00a0spent three years as U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait<\/a>. His\u00a0State Department service record includes a variety of roles across\u00a0six presidential administrations, dating back to Ronald Reagan.<\/p>\n Silliman\u2019s career in public service was foreshadowed as a Baylor student. On campus, he was a member of the Baylor Foreign Affairs Association, as well as the service club Circle K and a variety of honor societies.
