For some Baylor students,\u00a0wearing the green and gold isn’t so much\u00a0a decision as\u00a0part of the family tradition.<\/p>\n
Junior Rachel Ticknor (pictured above right) is one such student. Her mother, Holli, shares the story of their\u00a0legacy family:<\/p>\n
“My parents [Rachel’s grandparents] met and married while attending Baylor University over 50 years ago. They married in the Tidwell Bible Building in the chapel during finals week. My dad, Sam Houston Tubb Jr., BS ’61, was such a huge Baylor supporter and football fan. One of my favorite childhood photos is of Dad and I in front of the Armstrong Browning Library when I was 2 years old <\/em>[seen above left]. On a Premiere Tour I was able to take my daughter to the exact same spot where our photo was taken.<\/em><\/p>\n “My mom was able to come to Baylor last year and see my daughter perform with the Baylor Women’s Choir. She\u00a0enjoyed seeing her old dorm, Collins, eating in her old dining hall, and telling her granddaughter many stories about her days at Baylor.<\/em><\/p>\n “Aside from being a proud Baylor alum, my Dad was also a proud veteran and is buried in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Of course, when we go to visit his grave, we wear our Baylor shirts because we know he would have liked that.”<\/em><\/p>\n What’s your family’s Baylor legacy? <\/a>“My daughter even keeps a picture of her grandparents walking down the aisle on their wedding day in the chapel at Tidwell [seen at right]\u00a0in her dorm room. I actually took my Mom in there on Friday night before Sing; she hadn’t been there in over 50 years!<\/em><\/p>\n
