Now in her fourth year in Baylor’s women’s basketball\u00a0program, Sune Agbuke<\/a> is a familiar face to fans at the Ferrell Center. The 6-foot-4 post has started 47 of the Lady Bears’ last 60 games\u00a0and ranks fourth in Baylor’s record book for career blocks.<\/p>\n

Now in her fourth quarter at Baylor Law School<\/a>, she’s also a familiar face around the Umphrey Law Center — that is, when she’s not on the basketball court or traveling with the team.<\/p>\n

Agbuke, BA ’14, compiled a 3.53 GPA while earning her philosophy degree from Baylor in just three years. Oh, and she’s also found time\u00a0to visit both a local juvenile correctional facility and an area homeless shelter twice a month.\u00a0And to serve four years as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes team leader. And\u00a0to travel to Kenya and Nairobi with Baylor’s sports ministry teams<\/a> during the summers of 2012 and 2013.<\/p>\n

So how does she do it?<\/p>\n

“I have a great support system here,” Agbuke says modestly. “My classmates are extremely supportive; they know our game schedule, they know when I’m gonna need notes. And my professors are extremely flexible with me; that helps a lot.”<\/p>\n

Given all that, it’s no surprise that the San Antonio native\u00a0is one of 30 women’s basketball student-athletes named as candidates for the 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award<\/a>, given annually to the Division I senior who best excels in the\u00a0community, classroom, character and competition.<\/p>\n

The award winner will be announced during the Final Four in April. But first, Agbuke has a few more games to win — and law classes to attend.<\/p>\n
