What does Saturday mean for Baylor football?<\/p>\n
A chance to win back-to-back Big 12 titles<\/strong> — something that’s only been done by one other school in the league’s 19-year history (Oklahoma, 2006-07-08). The Bears have never before won consecutive conference championships, and would be the first Texas school to win back-to-back\u00a0league titles in a Power 5 conference since Texas in 1995-96.<\/p>\n A\u00a0shot at the first College Football Playoff.<\/strong> Baylor is ranked 5th in both the AP and Coaches polls<\/a> this week; the penultimate College Football Playoff Rankings will be announced tonight (6 p.m. CT, ESPN). The top four teams in the final rankings\u00a0(to\u00a0be announced Sunday at 11:45 a.m. CT on ESPN) will make the playoff, with the next six likely headed to other\u00a0New Year’s bowls as at-large selections.<\/p>\n A big stage for showcasing both football and the university.<\/strong>\u00a0ESPN’s College GameDay will be broadcasting live<\/a> from McLane Stadium’s South Plaza from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, giving Baylor and Baylor Nation an excellent showcase opportunity. Head coach Art Briles’ squad has won 15 straight games at home, the nation’s second-longest active streak, and has won 7 straight games in Waco against top-25 opponents over the last 3+ seasons.<\/p>\n This is a big one, Baylor fans.
