Baylor ace <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/2014\/05\/canion-baylor-softball-begin-road-to-world-series-at-home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Whitney Canion<\/a>\u00a0earned her 30th and 31st wins of the season, tying the program&#8217;s\u00a0single season record; she was backed by three home runs from a Lady Bear offense that set a new school record for home runs in a season.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the Lady Bears&#8217; third College World Series appearance; Baylor also made the final eight in 2007 and 2011. Baylor, the No. 13 seed, will face No. 5 seed Florida in the first game of the eight-team, double-elimination tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m. (ESPN). All games will be played at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncaa.com\/championships\/softball\/d1\/tickets-hospitality\" target=\"_blank\">click here for ticket information<\/a>. Let&#8217;s see some green and gold in OKC!<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u00a0softball isn&#8217;t the only Baylor sport excelling in the postseason this spring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Big 12 champion\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/m-tennis\/recaps\/051814aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>men&#8217;s tennis<\/strong> team\u00a0advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals<\/a> (Elite Eight) for the 11th time in 16 years.<\/li>\n<li>The Big 12 champion<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/w-tennis\/recaps\/051514aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\">women&#8217;s tennis<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/w-tennis\/recaps\/051514aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\"> team reached the NCAA Round of 16<\/a> for the ninth time in 10 years.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>track and field<\/strong>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/c-track\/recaps\/031514aab.html\" target=\"_blank\">Baylor men tied for 22nd and the women tied for 27th<\/a> at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March; they will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships next month.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Men&#8217;s golf<\/strong> made its 17th consecutive NCAA postseason\u00a0appearance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/m-golf\/recaps\/051714aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\">finishing 10th<\/a> at the NCAA Eugene Regional.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>women&#8217;s golf<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baylorbears.com\/sports\/w-golf\/recaps\/052314aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\">junior Hayley Davis tied for 10th<\/a> at the NCAA Championship, the best NCAA Championships finish ever by a Lady Bear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All told, to date, 2013-14 has brought Baylor a BCS bowl, two Elite Eights, two more Sweet 16s, and a College World Series appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Sic \u2019em, Baylor softball and all Baylor\u00a0sports!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the second time in four years, Baylor softball is headed to the Women&#8217;s College World Series!
