About 1 in 3 Baylor undergraduate students enrolls planning to major in a health-related field, drawn by\u00a0the\u00a0university’s long-held\u00a0reputation<\/a> for preparing students to thrive in healthcare careers. From prominent alums in healthcare leadership<\/a>\u00a0to dedicated physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and much more, the Baylor name means excellence in healthcare.<\/p>\n At their May meeting, Baylor Regents made a strong move to support the university’s commitment to health-related education and research, voting to establish a new college within the university<\/a> focused on exactly that area.<\/p>\n The College of Health and Human Sciences<\/a> (HHS) will become Baylor’s 12th\u00a0school or college, joining the College of Arts & Sciences<\/a>, Graduate School<\/a>,\u00a0Honors College<\/a>, schools of business<\/a>, education<\/a>, engineering and computer science<\/a>, law<\/a>,\u00a0music<\/a>, nursing<\/a> and social work<\/a>, and Truett Seminary<\/a>. The HHS will combine four existing academic areas\u00a0— Communication Sciences and Disorders, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health, Human Performance and Recreation and the Louise Herrington School of Nursing — to better coordinate and oversee most health\/human sciences-related\u00a0work at Baylor. From the release:<\/p>\n “The HHS will draw upon Baylor\u2019s Christian mission and tradition in health care to prepare scholars and leaders who can translate theory into practice and advance knowledge of health, human behavior and quality of life.
