The nomenclature hints at the system&#8217;s original connections to Baylor University, as the entire system began with one hospital (today, Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas) that started its partnership with the university almost a century ago.<\/p>\n<p>Two Baylor alumni will lead the organization.\u00a0Joel Allison, BA &#8217;70, will be the CEO of the new\u00a0Baylor Scott &amp; White Health; a BU Regent, Allison has served as president and CEO of Baylor Health Care System since 2000 and has <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/2010\/10\/alum-among-100-most-powerful-people-in-healthcare-for-7th-year-in-a-row\/\" target=\"_blank\">regularly been named among the healthcare industry&#8217;s most prominent people<\/a>. Dr. Robert Pryor, BS &#8217;73, will serve as president and COO of the new effort after having led Scott &amp; White as president and CEO since 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Two other prominent Baylor alumni will lead the joint board for Baylor Scott &amp; White Health. Drayton McLane Jr., BBA &#8217;58, has led Scott &amp; White&#8217;s board for the last 12 years and will serve as chairman of the new board, and Jim Turner, BBA &#8217;69, current chair of Baylor Health Care System&#8217;s board, will be the new chairman-elect.
