Clayton &amp; Associates has studied colleges and universities across the United States, seeking to find institutions committed to helping African American students graduate. From more than 800 schools nationwide, they&#8217;ve published a list of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestcollegesforblacks.com\" target=\"_blank\">88 Best Colleges for African Americans<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; a list that includes Baylor University.<\/p>\n<p>To make the list, each school had to meet a minimum graduation rate for African American students and offer a sizable African American student community. Baylor is one of just four Texas universities to appear on the list (along with Rice, Texas Lutheran and UT-Tyler) and is the only Big 12 member recognized.<\/p>\n<p>African Americans make up about\u00a08% of Baylor&#8217;s undergraduate student body; for reference, the rest of the undergraduate breakdown is\u00a065% white, 14% Hispanic, 8% Asian, 5% other\/unknown. Overall, Baylor&#8217;s racial minority percentage is around 34%, making our student body <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.baylor.edu\/2012\/04\/baylor-we-are-a-melting-pot\/\" target=\"_blank\">the second-most diverse in the Big 12<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sic\u00a0\u2019em, Bears!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For 20 years, M.
