• Truett Seminary’s National Preaching Conference to stream online this week

    National Preaching Conference 2020 information

For more than a decade, Truett Seminary’s Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching has worked to help seminary students become more effective preachers of God’s word.

Last year, the Center took things to the next level by hosting its first National Preaching Conference — bringing some of the most effective preachers in the world to Waco for Truett students (and others) to learn from firsthand.

The National Preaching Conference returns this year — and like so many other things in 2020, it has gone online. The good news is that opens the event up to a much wider audience; for just $25, you can hear from 10 of the world’s finest preachers from the comfort of your own home.

    This year’s event includes:

    • Jim Cymbala, pastor, Brooklyn Tabernacle
    • Dr. Charlie Dates, senior pastor, Chicago’s Progressive Baptist Church
    • Dr. Alister McGrath, a University of Oxford theologian
    • Beth Moore, Houston-based evangelist
    • Dr. Ken Shigematsu, senior pastor, Vancouver’s Tenth Church
    • Priscilla Shirer, Dallas-based evangelist
    • Dr. Maurice Watson, senior pastor, Metropolitan Baptist Church outside Washington, D.C.

Registration for the conference is now open; the event begins with a free livestream of Pastor Don Guthrie (BA ’75), the 2020 Paul W. Powell Preaching Award Recipient, on Nov. 17 and continues for paid registrants Nov. 18-19.

“This year has been an extraordinarily difficult year for pastors and church leaders,” says President Linda Livingstone. “Between the coronavirus pandemic, the racial injustice and unrest in our nation, and the recent presidential election, our ministers and ministry leaders have been asked to make challenging decisions under tremendous pressure. I hope that this event will equip and refresh those in attendance during these uncertain and trying times.”

    Sic ’em, Bears!
