• These Baylor Bears are ready to fling their green and gold afar

It’s the question every college senior gets over and over again: “What are you doing after graduation?”

It might be a job in your dream field. It might be a job in another field, while you look for a way into your dream field. It might be graduate school to better prepare you for your dream field. (Or you might not have an immediate answer, for a variety of reasons.)

As we celebrate the Class of 2019’s achievements this weekend with Baylor Commencement ceremonies, here’s a sampling of what lies ahead for #BU19:

“Be kind to others,” says Lauren Gibbs, a medical humanities major from Roeland Park, Kan. “Everyone’s situation is different, and you never know until you actually get to know that person and see what they’re like.”

Up next for Lauren: Graduate school at Duke, studying bioethics and science policy.

“Looking back on it, I can say [attending Baylor] was God’s plan,” says Pamela Wei, an accounting major from Shanghai, China. “There’s no other way to explain it.”

Up next for Pamela: Moving to Houston to work as an auditor at KPMG, one of the world’s top four accounting firms.

“The small class sizes and kind faculty showed me that Baylor would be the university for me,” says Clay Parham, an international studies major from Buda, Texas. “So many people here at Baylor have helped me get to where I am at.”

Up next for Clay: Moving to Germany to teach English on a prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistant award.

“There’s a reason you go through things,” says Hannah Beth Midkiff, an apparel merchandising major and single mother from Grandview, Texas. “I grew through everything I’ve gone through, but if I don’t share how I’ve grown, then how is anyone else gonna grow?”

Up next: Moving to Fort Worth to get married, opening a photography business and pursuing a master’s degree.

“I’ve learned a lot from my classes, my teachers, but most of all, from the kids,” says Gigi Mendoza, a special education major and acrobatics & tumbling varsity athlete from Seal Beach, Calif. “They make me want to be a better person.”

Up next for Gigi: Moving back to California to work in a special education classroom in the Orange or Los Angeles county area.
