Meet Baylor’s nationally recognized expert on business and entrepreneurship
Maybe you’ve heard, or maybe you haven’t, but Baylor’s entrepreneurship program is among the best in the nation. So perhaps it comes as no surprise that one of our entrepreneurship professors is highly sought out as an expert on the subject.
Dr. Peter Klein has taught entrepreneurship at Baylor since 2015, and also serves as a senior research fellow with BU’s Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise. His research focuses on the links between entrepreneurship, strategy and organization. He then applies that to innovation, diversification, vertical coordination, health care and public policy.
For example, Klein has analyzed the economics of farming, the biofuel industry in South Africa, the governance structure of private equity, and how most companies’ goal of maximized shareholder equity can easily lead to misunderstandings about the company’s obligations to innovation, contracts and relationships.
Much of Klein’s research has been featured in prominent journals, and he’s earned “best paper” awards from the Journal of Private Enterprise Education and the European Management Review. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, the Mises Institute, the Illinois-Missouri Biotechnology Alliance, and other organizations. He’s becoming a go-to expert for media outlets looking for insight into the business and entrepreneurship world. Inside Higher Ed interviewed him on his research on business incubators at colleges and universities and whether they truly bring innovation into the marketplace. Back in 2017, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted him on President Trump’s management style.
In other words: a lot of people consider his research pretty significant and groundbreaking. We’re pretty glad he’s here at Baylor teaching our business students!
Sic ’em, Dr. Klein!
