7 Baylor-themed Christmas ideas for all the Bears in your life
If you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance that either you or someone close to you is a Baylor Bear. If it’s you, consider this a little help toward completing your Christmas wish list; if it’s a loved one, then consider us your personal shopping assistant. Here are 7 of our favorite gift ideas that will knock this Christmas out of the park:
This fall, two Baylor staff members published Gildersleeve: Waco’s Photographer, an entire book full of hundreds of Fred Gildersleeve’s greatest works. Fred A. “Gildy” Gildersleeve, AKA “Waco’s photographer,” shot most of the early 20th century photos of Baylor and Waco. Over 1,400 of his original glass negatives are stored in Baylor’s Texas Collection. (Find more of our favorite books written by Baylor alumni here.)
You can get all 9 seasons of “The Office” for a sweet deal, or catch them all on Netflix. That’s a lot of episodes to watch with Baylor alumna Angela Kinsey, BA ’94, who of course plays the cold and condescending Angela Martin. (See more Baylor alumni in these Netflix shows and these films and TV shows.)
2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the Baylor Religious Hour Choir, and they made an entire CD to celebrate! Let Everything That Hath Breath is a collection of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs sung by this year’s BRH Choir members. (Check out tons more Baylor Bears who have made a name for themselves through music.)
Dapper Bear Clothiers makes some of the highest quality Baylor clothes and accessories in the world, including the blanket scarf above. They’re perfect for accessorizing more formal outfits when you still want to show off your Baylor pride, and they make excellent gifts for Baylor fans. (See more Baylor apparel and accessories on Baylor’s Pinterest board and the Baylor Bookstore.)
If you came to this post because you just had to have the ornament pictured above, here it is. After the annual Baylor Traditions Ornaments, this one is up there with our favorites. It just screams “I love Christmas, and I love Baylor!” (If that’s not your style, never fear — there are tons more on this #BaylorChristmas Pinterest board.)
You didn’t think we’d forget our Baylor sports fans, did you? Right after Christmas, Baylor football will face Vanderbilt in the Texas Bowl in Houston. If you have the chance to make it to Houston, taking a friend or family member to this game is a gift they’ll never forget! (There are plenty more ticketed Baylor sporting events through the rest of 2018 and 2019. They make awesome gifts and stocking stuffers!)
For the person who has everything, give a gift in their name to support students — who could perhaps use the gift more than many of us could! Baylor recently launched “Give Light,” a campaign which seeks to raise support for virtually every area of campus as we make our mark with an unambiguously Christian educational environment, transformational undergraduate education, research and scholarship marked by quality impact and visibility, and nationally recognized programs in human performance through the arts and athletics. (In case you missed our post from November, give it a read to learn even more about the campaign and how far we’ve already come.)
Merry Christmas, and sic ’em, Bears!
