• The incredible, quiet way Baylor faculty & staff support BU students

How many people feel led to give back, out of their own paychecks, to the very organization that employs them?

I’ve certainly never considered giving back anywhere else I’ve worked. But at Baylor, it’s common practice; last year alone, BU faculty and staff combined to give more than $1.7 million back to the university in support of students, research projects and more. Over the last three years, faculty/staff (including retirees) have given a collective $6.3 million to Baylor — including more than $2.25 million that has gone directly to scholarships.

Why? Because Baylor employees believe in the mission of the university and the work being done here, and because they want to see students accomplish more and go farther than ever before. These gifts go to almost every part of the university: scholarships, athletics, academic projects, compassion funds (which provide financial assistance to students and staff members facing emergency needs) and more.

The nearly $2 million given last year by Baylor faculty and staff was part of one of the most robust years of giving in Baylor history. In President Linda Livingstone’s first year, alumni, parents, students and friends of the university gave more than $113 million to BU — the second-largest annual fundraising total in Baylor history.

Every organization wants people who truly believe in it and who embody its ideals — but few places can say they have employees like ours!

Sic ’em, Baylor faculty & staff!
