• A dream comes true — literally — at Baylor Premiere

This weekend, Baylor held its Fall Premiere, a day-long event during which prospective students explore campus, experience a taste of college life, and ask questions of Baylor faculty and staff. On Saturday, from the Ferrell Center stage in front of thousands of students and their parents, Baylor Admissions surprised 30 high school seniors with the honor of being the first group of students accepted to the Baylor Class of 2023. [Watch that special moment here.]

One of those students — Fayetteville (Texas) High School senior CeCe Mitchell — might have known something was going to happen. On the drive to Waco, her father had told her he had a dream the night before that they would announce on stage that she was accepted to Baylor.

“She looked at me like, ‘You have lost your mind,’” he says. “And then about two minutes after the announcement, I said, ‘Now do you believe me?’”

“That moment I was just completely shocked,” adds CeCe. “Because that’s all I had been thinking about since I had started my application. ‘When am I gonna get accepted? Where am I gonna be when it happens?’ The first thing I did was turn around and look at my dad in tears, because we had just been talking about it on the drive over. And I still didn’t believe it during the presentation afterward.”

CeCe applied to Baylor through the Early Decision application. After visiting campus this spring, she fell in love with Baylor’s unique combination of a large campus and small class sizes — and with all the red brick buildings. “The whole time during the tour, thing after thing after thing was just, ‘Wow, Baylor is gonna offer me what no other university will.’ It felt right.”

Congratulations to CeCe and the 29 other students accepted Saturday into the Baylor Class of 2023! We can’t wait to welcome you to campus next fall!

    Sic ’em, BU23!
