• The fun story behind why UT’s new police dog is named ‘Baylor’

    The Rivas family and Baylor

We love seeing the many ways Baylor grads fling their green and gold afar — especially in fun and unexpected ways.

Like this one: Diego Rivas, a 2017 Baylor MBA graduate who lives in Austin, recently donated a beautiful Belgian Malinois puppy to the University of Texas Police Department. His only request? That they name the dog “Baylor.”

UTPD accepted the gift, and so the University of Texas now has a member of their K-9 unit named after our beloved university.

Here she is, learning how to fetch and sit:

When the Rivas family was recognized by the department for their generous donation, Diego made sure to sport some BU gear for the photo op (see above).

    Sic ’em, Baylor and UTPD!
