Camp Success a win-win for both Baylor and Central Texas
Since 2003, Baylor’s Camp Success has provided a life-changing program to children with language and literacy disorders through the university’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Over a period of four weeks, children receive 50 hours of therapy — equal to a full year’s worth of work in many school districts. While this therapy would normally cost as much as $10,000, Baylor’s program is completely free to students. The children see dramatic improvements, and Baylor students get valuable experience for future careers in the field.
The Waco Scottish Rite Foundation has made Camp Success possible over the last 15 years, generously donating their time and resources to the program. A recent $1.6 million gift from the foundation has created a permanent endowment for Camp Success, ensuring that resources will be provided, faculty and students supported, and community outreach enhanced for the program well into the future.
