• Lady Bears win 8th straight (!!) Big 12 title

Lady Bears celebrating their 8th straight Big 12 title

While Monday night’s win over No. 6 Texas was a big one for the No. 3-ranked Lady Bears, it also had a feeling of familiarity about it. Why?

    • The victory gave head coach Kim Mulkey’s squad its eighth consecutive Big 12 Conference championship.
    • It was the second time in three years that Baylor clinched the Big 12 title by beating Texas.
    • BU has now defeated UT in 17 of their last 18 meetings.
    • The win extended the Lady Bears’ winning streak to 23 straight games.

Putting those eight straight Big 12 titles in perspective…

    • Only one other Big 12 team, in any sport, has ever won more consecutive regular season championships (Kansas men’s basketball).
    • Freshmen like Alexis Morris and Didi Richards (who combined for 10 rebounds, 6 rebounds and 3 assists Monday night) were in 5th grade the last time the Lady Bears didn’t win the Big 12.

After playing at TCU on Saturday, Baylor will return home for its final regular season home game of the year next Monday against West Virginia. Come join us as we celebrate the 8-time defending Big 12 champs in style!

    Sic ’em, Lady Bears!
