New shows coming this summer from two Baylor alumni
There are so many Baylor alumni on screen lately, it’s getting hard to keep up – and that’s a good problem to have! So if you’re looking for something new to watch, here are two more TV shows to add to our ever-growing list of Bears in Hollywood.
Downward Dog debuts May 17 (8:30 p.m. CT, ABC). Allison Tolman, BFA ’04, stars as Nan, a woman with a complicated relationship, a demanding job, and a talking dog, Martin — “essentially an existential hipster,” as one pleasantly surprised critic describes him.
You may remember Tolman from the series Fargo, which can easily be considered her “big break,” as it led to Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. “There will definitely be strides for the rest of my career but nothing will ever feel like that; coming from nothing and going to that Fargo phenomenon,” Tolman says. “But definitely where I’m at now, I feel like [Downward Dog] is very much a major, major step: having my own show, a network show.”
Incredible Edible America with the Dunhams debuts June 5 (9 p.m. CT, Food Network). The infamous Jeff Dunham, BA ’86, and his wife, Audrey, star in this show as they travel the country searching for the most incredible dishes they can find.
Dunham has made a name for himself through his Comedy Central specials, and he annually ranks among the world’s highest-paid comedians. But this isn’t his first venture over onto the Food Network; in 2016, he hosted the channel’s Halloween Baking Championship.
Sic ’em, Bears in Hollywood!
