Equestrian claims Baylor’s third Big 12 title of 2017
While many eyes were on March Madness basketball last weekend, the Baylor equestrian team was busy winning the university’s third Big 12 title of 2017.
Head coach Ellen White’s squad hosted this year’s Big 12 Championship at the Willis Family Equestrian Center, and the Bears kept the trophy right here in Waco by winning their third conference title in eight years. Seven Baylor student-athletes earned All-Big 12 honors, led by senior Savannah Jenkins, who was named Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Year for the conference.
Baylor equestrian followed women’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field in bringing home a Big 12 trophy already this year. Next up for BU equestrian: the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Championship, which Baylor will also host here in Waco (April 12-15 at the Extraco Events Center).
Sic ’em, Baylor equestrian!
(Speaking of March Madness… Both Baylor basketball teams saw their season end this weekend, with the Bears’ run concluding in their fourth Sweet 16 in eight years and the Lady Bears reaching the Elite Eight for the seventh time in eight years.)
