Him: “We actually got engaged over break, just after New Year’s! We met here last year… We’ve been dating for almost a year now.”

Her: “Which a lot of people say is very quick, but we’re pretty mature for our age. … I think a part of us was like, why can’t we just start living our life now? But we can’t, obviously. We need our degrees; it’s important. But it is going to be a little tough since we’ll have to plan the wedding from here, because it’s going to be in August in Malibu.”

Him: “People ask me all the time, ‘Don’t you want to enjoy college?’ I’m like, ‘What would be different if I got married? I can’t go and do the things I do already?’”

Her: “At first my mom and dad were a little freaked out, because my mom got married at 35. They’re both doctors, so they both had to go through residency and they did not understand me getting married this young. … Everyone who knows is afraid at first, but when they get to know us and meet us they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, I get it.’ … I think for people that say we’re too young to get married, or whatever, as long as you have God at the center of your relationship and you really are good together, I don’t think it really matters what age you get married. After I talked to my mom and dad about it and they understood, they’re all for it now.”
