#BearsOfBaylor — “[Poppies] symbolize a peaceful rest, and I struggle with anxiety.”
[What did you do over Christmas break?]
“The most exciting thing I did was get a tattoo… A lot of women in my family like poppies; they symbolize a peaceful rest, and I struggle with anxiety. It’s something I’m aspiring to achieve — peaceful rest.
“My therapist thinks that my anxiety originated with my friend in high school who committed suicide… She hung herself, and I found her, so my therapist thinks that kind of started it. [At Baylor,] I’ve found people who have helped me a lot, who I feel are more like-minded than the people I was around in high school. That’s helped.
“I’m really happy about what I’m majoring in, and I’m really happy with the person I’m rooming with, because last year I wasn’t. I’m happy with my boyfriend, happy with all of it. Life is great, pretty much, overall.”
[Every Baylor Bear has a story; #BearsOfBaylor brings those stories to you, one by one. These stories, these people… This is our Baylor.]
