[As museum studies graduate students, does it ruin the magic to be behind the scenes at a museum?]

“It’s a different kind of magic.”

“You can appreciate things when they’re done correctly, but it’s harder going to places because you’re trained to see the flaws, so it’s hard to enjoy things as much as you used to.”

“I tend to get a lot of dirty looks from gallery guards, because I’ll be looking at how they hang things on the walls — which looks very suspicious, so I definitely understand why they would think that looks weird. I don’t touch things, but if you walk around to the side of it, to see how it’s hung, they really don’t like that. Don’t do that.”
