• Pierre Jackson becomes Baylor’s 4th NBA draft pick in 2 years

Pierre Jackson, NBA draft pickKentucky, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, Texas.

That’s it. Those six schools are the only ones in the country to have had more NBA draftees in the last four years than Baylor. Pretty good company, eh?

Following in the footsteps of Ekpe Udoh (No. 6 overall, 2010), Perry Jones III (No. 28, 2012), Quincy Acy (No. 37, 2012) and Quincy Miller (No. 38, 2012), point guard Pierre Jackson became the latest Bear to head to the NBA when he was selected last night with the 42nd overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers*.

Jackson finished his Baylor career this spring ranked third in program history in career assists and 14th in career scoring, despite having played just two seasons at Baylor after transferring from a junior college. As a senior this past year, he became the first player ever to lead the Big 12 in both scoring and assists and was named USBWA District Player of the Year.

    Sic ’em, Pierre!

    * Reports indicate that Jackson will likely be traded to New Orleans when trades can be made official in mid July.
