• Move-In Day welcomes Class of 2013 to Baylor

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,000 freshmen are experiencing their first day of college classes today at Baylor (meet a few of them here, here and here). That means that late last week, even more students (plus family and friends) descended on Waco for Move-In Day 2009!

For the uninitiated, Move-In Day at Baylor is a little different than at most universities. Hundreds of students, faculty, staff and members of the Waco community pitch in to help new students get settled in their residence halls; parents simply pull up to the curb, and volunteers swarm in to carry all the student’s belongings up to their room. By the time Mom or Dad park the car, the student will find all their things already delivered to the room — a blessing anywhere, but especially in the Texas summer heat!

Baylor Photography not only recorded the events for this photo gallery; they went a step further, creating this time-lapse video as one pair of girls moved into Collins Residence Hall. As you’ll see, this is clearly the most decked out room on campus. If only my roommate and I had been so lucky, back in Martin Room 130 so many years ago!

Sic ’em, Move-In Day volunteers and the class of 2013!
